I first tried to get a story from Jens Lekman when he played in Bush Hall (a year or two ago?), but was unsuccessful as he seemed a bit busy after the gig. I managed to get him again, and it almost seemed like he would escape again, saying that he'd just need to think about a story, could I try later? Fearful of him then being mobbed by the masses of folk after the gig, I tried desparate measures of the girlfriend who was sitting waiting and very tired. The (true) heartstring-pulling tale was enough for him to write this cool story!
